HP Compaq Adds Penryn To Select Laptops

The firm announced that it will be adding the Penryn chip to four more models today.

Penryn is essentially a shrink of the Core 2 Duo chips, with a few extras like the SSE4 instructions. The previous chips are produced using 65-nanometer manufacturing technology while the new Penryn chips are manufactured using 45-nanometer technology.
