Using Linux vs. Mac OS X

Any input as to which of these two OS would be better to use on a laptop? They both have their strengths and weaknesses Linux is very stable and with shell scripts executing commands is actually faster than using the graphical interface of other OS. While Mac OS X is also pretty stable with little or no problems with viruses and excellent software packages bundled with the OS.
